John has been the Chair since 2006 and is a board member of Opportunity International Bank of Malawi and Vice Chair of the Opportunity International Network Board. John is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He has had a 25 year career in portfolio management, and held senior positions in the asset management industry at Robert Fleming, Rowe Price-Fleming and most recently as Chief Investment Officer of T. Rowe Price International.

Our Patron, HRH The Princess Royal
HRH The Princess Royal has been Patron of Opportunity International UK since 1998. Her Royal Highness has visited Opportunity clients in the Philippines, Ghana and Peru.
Our Trustees
Opportunity UK has an active Board of Trustees which meets quarterly and is comprised of ten individuals with senior-level experience in banking, education, finance, fundraising and government.
John Ford (Chair)
Renny Gye
Renny has worked in the voluntary sector in the UK and USA, as an employee, volunteer and trustee for over 20 years. She served for ten years on the board of a large housing association, with a £60million turnover, latterly as Vice Chairman. She has a degree in PPE from Oxford University and an MBA from London Business School. She has also recently completed a Masters in Development & Emergency Practice at Oxford Brookes University.
Adrian Hill
Adrian has more than 20 years’ experience in the financial industry. He was formerly Managing Director of HFC Bank and Chairman of the Consumer Finance Division at the Finance & Leasing Association in London.
Mary Lindsay-White
Mary is an executive and life coach. Formerly as Managing Director with FleetBoston Financial, she was responsible for the bank’s business relationships with financial institutions in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India. She has worked in the financial sector for over 20 years
Herta von Stiegel
Herta is Executive Chairman of Ariya Capital Group, a fund management firm focusing on sustainable investments in Africa. She has 20 years experience in international finance having held senior positions at Citibank, JP Morgan and AIG Financial Products. A tax lawyer by training, she serves on several boards in the corporate and not-for-profit sectors, including Camco International, and chairs the Prince’s Trust Womens’ Leadership Group.
Roger Witcomb
Roger was appointed Chair of the Competition Commission in May 2011. He is also currently Chair of Governors at the University of Winchester and a non-executive director of Infraco, a government-backed developer of infrastructure projects in poor countries. With a background in economics, Roger has worked for the Bank of England, the UN, BP and National Power, where he was Finance Director from 1996 to 2000.
Robert Goldspink
Robert has over 30 years experience as an international litigation and arbitration lawyer. He was also Managing Partner of the London office of American based firm Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP. He is now a director of the Serious Fraud Office as well as director of Opportunity International United Kingdom and Opportunity Tanzania Limited. He is an accredited mediator.
Terry Watson
Terry was on the Opportunity International US Board for 11 years and is also a member of the MicroEnsure LLC Board. Terry is the Chief Risk Officer for Allianz Global Investors, one of world’s largest investment managers. Prior to joining Allianz, Terry worked in a similar position at Barclays Global Investors and had a long career at Bank of America. He obtained a degree in Modern Languages from Jesus College, Oxford.
Nick Lea
Nick has 20 years experience in financial services and development. He lived in Malawi for three years, working with the Children’s Investment Fund, DFID and the World Bank. He has a First Class Maths degree from Christ Church, Oxford, and an MPhil in Latin American Economics from St. Antony’s, Oxford.
