“If life gives you a lemon, make a lemonade” - this is the attitude of Diana Anane, a 40-year old business-minded woman who lets no opportunity pass her by. Diana is married with three children and lives in Kumasi, the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
We have worked with Diana for a few years, helping her develop her detergent business. Her business was doing well until March this year when the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic reached Ghana. Like many Diana was forced to temporally close down her business due to the partial lockdown which lead to the unavailability of raw materials for production. Diana quickly turned this uncertainty into an opportunity and decided to try and create the most in demand product during this time – hand sanitiser!

After reaching out to a chemist from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) for advice, Diana ran through some experiments, tests and create a registered production of 70% alcohol based hand sanitiser. She has taken it into full production and is now supplying people in the market – predominantly those who work in banks and hospitals who are still venturing out to work.
Not only has Diana created another source of income for her family but she is supporting her who community during this pandemic. Diana is one of many clients who are adapting and innovating to support themselves and their families. Thank you for enabling them to do so.
