Opportunity International UK appoints Busola Sodeinde as Chair of Trustees

By Opportunity International

Opportunity International UK is pleased to announce the appointment of Busola Sodeinde as its new Chair of Trustees, succeeding Cliff Hampton, who is stepping down after thirteen years of service, including ten years as Chair and five years as the Chair of the Opportunity Global Board. During his tenure, Cliff has played a key role in strengthening governance, expanding partnerships and supporting the organisation’s growing impact across Africa and beyond.

Reflecting on his time as Chair, Cliff Hampton said: “It has been a privilege to serve Opportunity International UK and to see the organisation grow in both reach and maturity. I am proud of the strong foundations that are now in place, and I am delighted to be handing over to Busola, whose experience, values and leadership will be a real asset as Opportunity continues its mission.”

Busola Sodeinde is a seasoned leader with extensive experience across financial services, governance and social entrepreneurship. A former Chief Financial Officer of State Street Global Markets EMEA, she now holds a portfolio of senior non‑executive roles, including Vice Chair of The Scouts Association and Audit Chair positions across the financial sector. She is also actively engaged with the Church of England as a member of the Board of Governors of the Church Commissioners for England, where she contributes to work on impact investing and economic justice and led an independent review on the church’s work in lowest-income communities.  She is the founder of Dysh, a social and educational technology platform, and is recognised for her leadership in strategy, inclusion and digital innovation. Her professional expertise and faith‑driven commitment to economic justice closely align with Opportunity International UK’s mission to empower people to lift themselves out of poverty with dignity.

Commenting on her appointment, Busola Sodeinde said: “I am honoured to be appointed Chair of Opportunity International UK. The organisation’s focus on inclusive finance and enterprise as a pathway out of poverty is one I have long admired. I look forward to working with my fellow Trustees and the executive team to build on strong foundations and ensure Opportunity continues to serve communities with integrity and purpose and create lasting impact.”
